Our trained professionals can diagnose the hyperactive muscles that are causing these facial lines and can treat the condition by using an injectable muscle relaxant, Botulinium Toxin type A (BTx-A).
What is Botulium Toxin Typa A (BTx-A)?
BTx-A is a purified natural protein, which acts as a muscle relaxant. For over 15 years, it has been used to target specific muscles that are overactive and cause the appearance of wrintkles. It relaxes and reduces the muscle’s activity underneath the skin and assists in smoothing of the the wrinkles. BTx-A is commonly used to treat frown lines between the eyes, forhead lines and crow’s feet and help achieve a more relaxed and youthful look.
But there’s more to BTx…There are numerous other benefits of BTx-A that are not commonly known. As it is an effective muscle relaxant, it can also be used to improve gummy smiles, dimples around lower chin and tenderness around jaw muscle to reduce facial pain.
How long does BTx-A last?
The effects of BTx-A can vary from patient to patient and can last anywhere from 3-6 months. The effects of repeat treatment have been found to last longer than the first.
What is involved in the procedure? Does it hurt?
Treatment with BTx-A is a non-surgical procedure involving a very fine needle. The treatment is normally completed within 10 minutes without the need for any anaesthetic. Discomfort is very minimal and most patients will descrive the discomfort as a bug bite. Instructions will be given such as to avoid strenuous exercise for the rest of the day and to avoid lying on one’s side for few hours. You will be able to go about your day as normal.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are very uncommon with BTx-A treatment. The rare but temporary side-effects involve tenderness, bruising, swelling, redness and local muscle weakness.
How much does it cost?
The cost of BTx-A varies depending on the area being treated and the individual patient. Some patients have more active muscles than others, with larger muscles requiring a larger dose.

Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a substance that occurs naturally in body. Hyaluronic acid provides volume to the skin and assists in hydration as it attracts water.
With ageing and exposure of our body to the various elements, the body’s ability to produce HA decreases. This results in loss of volume in the skin, which will cause the skin to sag. This will create facial lines and grooves causing the skin to appear dull and sunken.
Our qualified dentists can place HA dermal fillers that will provide immediate result in restoration of volume, reducing appearance of deep lines or wrinkles. Dermal fillers can also be used to complement your dental treatment by creating fuller and more defined lips and reducing the appearance of nasolabial folds.
Treatment with dermal fillers can last from 6 to 12 months.
